The project consisted of upgrading of 6 rural roads located in North Pemba of Zanzibar Archipelago to bitumen standard. The total length of the roads being 35 km
The construction followed existing alignment with localised geometric improvements consisting of a 7m wide main carriage way with 1m wide shoulders. 300mm sub base and base and it was surfaced with a double surface dressing.
Major works executed comprised mainly of;
- Construction of Earthworks – 679,007 m3
- Cement improved gravel for sub-base and base – 103,670 m3
- Concrete Works – 1,057 m3
- Culverts (600mm – 1200mm) – 1,119 m
- Double Surface Dressing (Chippings) – 205,694 m2
- Stone pitching for open drains – 13,170 m2
- Road marking paint (100mm wide) – 92,917 m
